5 Most Greatest Achievements of the Human Mind

5. Evolutionary Theory

Probably the most controversial entry on this list, evolution inspires more heated debate and animosity between its adherents and detractors than any other scientific theory, but let’s get a couple of points out of the way. Darwin never stated that humans evolved from apes; they both have a common ancestor. Also, ‘On the Origin of Species’ (published in 1859) only mentions human evolution in passing, for two reasons: Darwin was wary of the response (‘Vestiges of Creation’ in 1844 had met with controversy), and there wasn’t enough evidence available at the time to make a detailed analysis of human evolution. That said, Darwin’s book brought about a classic paradigm shift; never again could man look at the natural world around him the same way (or himself, for that matter). As for Darwin, over the years his religious beliefs had eroded. By 1859, Darwin considered all religions equally valid, and was critical of the Biblical account of creation. The death of his daughter Anne in 1851 at age 10 had also contributed to his loss of faith, and he stopped attending church entirely (though he never quite became a total atheist).

Adobe, Sony, Nokia And Motorola Logo History

Adobe Logo History

At its inception in December 1982, Adobe Systems had a staff of two: John Warnock and Chuck Geschke.

Starting up a new company was risky, especially for two fortysomething men with families to support. Warnock and Geschke were pragmatists,

however. If Adobe failed, they knew they could fi nd work elsewhere, given their pedigrees and the employment climate of Silicon Valley in the 1980s. Besides, the two were confi dent in the technology. Th ey knew that the software language they’d developed had natural applications for office environments in which dumb, noisy printers churned out page after page of poorly composed documents.

The programming language that became known as PostScript solved several problems. First, communications between PC and printer needed only one software language instead of a mishmash of specialized drivers and application protocols for each device. Second, the language could describe both text and graphics on one page, thus eliminating the need to literally cut and paste words and pictures onto paperboard. And this language

would be hooked up to one of the new, quieter laser printers, sparing workers the clatter of dot-matrix and daisy-wheel models.

Adobe First Logo Designer was Marva Warnock

The History About Internet Speed And Usage [Infographic]

We visually showing how fast the Internet has made its way to the people of this world in the past 15 years – and how fast the Internet has become in some parts of it. Here’s what stood out for me: the United States leads the world in broadband penetration, with Americans consuming way more gigabytes per month than Europeans or people in Japan and South Korea.

The United States only ranks 30th when it comes to downloads speeds, however, thus the trailing countries like South Korea, Andorra and the Republic of Moldova. Surprisingly, downloads speeds in the US still surpass those in the UK, Canada and Australia.

Egypt Crisis Goes Bad [Unssen Photos]

For the Tenth day straight day, protesters have taken to the streets of Cairo as President Hosni Mubarak refuses to step down and end his 30-year rule. Dr Mohammed ElBaradei, a voice of moderation in the protest movement, told Al Jazeera interviewers that "we are prepared to engage with the regime to ensure a smooth and orderly transition, but there is no question that Mubarak will have to leave." That puts the Obama Administration in a difficult position, because the democratic rebellion in Egypt threatens to sweep away a pillar of support for U.S. regional strategy. Secretary Clinton did not take questions, and a subsequent State Department briefing was canceled.

A man going to kill by the army

The protests took place despite widespread disruptions to internet and mobile-phone connections from early on Friday.Mobile operator Vodafone Egypt said in a statement: "All mobile operators in Egypt have been instructed to suspend services in selected areas. Under Egyptian legislation the authorities have the right to issue such an order and we are obliged to comply with it."

32GB in 2010 VS 20GB in 1980

A 20GB (eight 2.5GB) storage in year 1980 is 648000% to 758400% more expensive and 440000000% more heavy than a 32GB storage in year 2010. Fast forward 30 years and I suppose the comparison would instead be 20TB in 2010 vs 32TB in 2040?
