The History About Internet Speed And Usage [Infographic]

We visually showing how fast the Internet has made its way to the people of this world in the past 15 years – and how fast the Internet has become in some parts of it. Here’s what stood out for me: the United States leads the world in broadband penetration, with Americans consuming way more gigabytes per month than Europeans or people in Japan and South Korea.


The United States only ranks 30th when it comes to downloads speeds, however, thus the trailing countries like South Korea, Andorra and the Republic of Moldova. Surprisingly, downloads speeds in the US still surpass those in the UK, Canada and Australia.

Firefox 4 Final Released [Infographic]

After months of delays, twelve betas, and two release candidates, Mozilla released Firefox 4 on march 22 for Windows XP, Vista, and 7, the Intel versions of Mac OS X 10.5 and 10.6, and Linux.

For starters, all users get a redesigned tabs-on-top interface that is being compared to Chrome but is actually more similar to recent Opera releases – in Windows, the tabs are all above the address bar, and a large button in the upper-left corner of the screen provides access to browser settings.

5 French
Number of speakers: 129 million
Often called the most romantic language in the world, French is spoken in tons of countries, including Belgium, Canada, Rwanda, Cameroon, and Haiti. Oh, and France too. We’re actually very lucky that French is so popular, because without it, we might have been stuck with Dutch Toast, Dutch Fries, and Dutch kissing (ew!).To say “hello” in French, say “Bonjour” (bone-JOOR).


4 Portuguese

Think of Portuguese as the little language that could. In the 12th Century, Portugal won its independence from Spain and expanded all over the world with the help of its famous explorers like Vasco da Gama and Prince Henry the Navigator. (Good thing Henry became a navigator . . . could you imagine if a guy named “Prince Henry the Navigator” became a florist?) Because Portugal got in so early on the exploring game, the language established itself all over the world, especially in Brazil (where it’s the national language), Macau, Angola, Venezuela, and Mozambique.To say “hello” in Portuguese, say “Bom dia” (bohn DEE-ah).

Social sites got highly popular over the last few years. Facebook and Twitter have become the leading networks on the internet with millions of users.According to the survey that took place from June 2009 to June 2010 and that involved 200, 000 Americans we find out that time spent on social websites is increasing. According to the study Americans spend 16 percent to 23 percent on social websites. That’s six hours online on Facebook per month. Second place takes social gaming and email is on the third place.
