A concept merged with stunning visual effects and captivating action scenes is something rarely produced these days-that too from Kollywood.
The story is about a human robot named Chitti(Rajnikanth) created by Chennai-based Dr.Vasi(also played by Rajnikant) after 10 years of hard work. The Robot here not only follows orders of his creator, but also cooks, fights, romances and wonder of wonders, has a lengthy conversation with a mosquito and scan loads of books/magazines and an entire telephone directory in a second. That's not all, this Robot is Superman + Spiderman + Terminator + Godzilla, all rolled into one. It can replicate itself, wage a vicious battle, turn into an Anaconda or a monster ball and wipe off an entire army.Woo Ping, action choreographer in the Matrix and Kill Bill sequels, produced some excellent action scenes as a stunt coordinator. And as far as Visual effects is concerned, just one word: Mindblowing. Quite natural, considering the animation job having been entrusted to Stan Winston Studio, that has given the glitter to all-time Hollywood hits like Jurassic Park, Predator, iron Man, terminator and the all-famous Avatar. Exquisite locations of Austria, Machu Picchu in Peru, U.S.A. and Brazil add to the shine.
Actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Danny Denzongpa live up to their expectations. However, the music by A.R. Rahman is disappointing! Still, that's too minor a flaw to be overshadowed by the stunts, production, direction and acting that pulls India's most expensive film all through. An emotional entertainer!
Final word: "A Rajnikant film is an event and this combo's [Shankar - Rajnikant] new outing ROBOT is sure to strike like Tsunami. Let me make it short-n-sweet. If you miss ROBOT, it's YOUR loss......
Proud to be a Kollywood and Bollywood fan.
